Economy and ecology - these are no longer contradictions. ÖKOPROFIT, a communal project of the cities Gelsenkirchen, Gladbeck and Herne in Germany, has demonstrated how these two aspects can be reconciled with each other.
The project ÖKOPROFIT is a concerted initiative of the parish, the local economy and other local partners, in which - apart from Müller´s Mühle - another 12 companies of the region have participated. The aim was to help the companies to achieve a practical and at the same time highly efficient environmental management system under the motto: Environmental protection through cost reduction.

With ÖKOPROFIT, the companies were able to combine the ecological benefit for the environment with the economic gain for the companies, by establishing in-house processes and structures - from diverse energy saving measures via technical optimisations up to waste minimisation.
This way, Müller’s Mühle will not only preserve the environment even more efficiently in future, but can also reduce costs by a five-digit figure. For this achievement, Müller´s Mühle was awarded the ÖKOPROFIT environment certificate on 22/05/2008 by the North-Rhine Wesphalia environment minister Eckhard Uhlenberg.
