Normal cooking time for red kidney beans is approx. 1 ½ - 2 hours. Red kidney beans soaked in water for 12 hours only need approx. 45-60 minutes.
Red kidney beans are best suited as accompaniment to spicy meat dishes (e.g. chili con carne) and to salads.
